Tipografia modular
Desenvolvimento de um jogo de tabuleiro para o ensino tipográfico
Laura Mineiro
The project is a modular typographic game that promotes the space of typographic creation as a vehicle for expression and abstract composition. An additional aim is to encourage interest in the discipline of typography. Modulyph is an open-system board game made up of a set of four basic geometric shapes designed to build glyphs on a modular structure of 2×2 modules, in a regular-weight typographic model¹. It is a game in search of new ways of interpreting the structures of the letters of the Latin script and of creating new combinatorial and creative visual solutions. The variety of shapes in this kind of design suggests applications in many kinds of contexts, not only typographic compositions but also graphic compositions, illustrations, symbols, signs and patterns in different areas of communication, namely graphic design, editorial design, branding and wayfinding, among others.

¹ In the future, the different levels of the game will include the design of additional weights and widths.
