Aperiodica: Tipo de letra e espécime
Daniel de Sousa
Aperiodica is a transitional serif typeface born from a proposal first presented in the first project of the Type Design curricular unit. Despite its traditional roots, the typeface was created with editorial design in mind — headlines of periodicals, print and online newspapers, etc. — and therefore embraces display qualities, namely its abrupt, pointed serifs, inspired by the typefaces of major Portuguese newspapers such as Público and Expresso, and by other historical typefaces such as Swift (Unger) and Meridien (Frutiger).

It is variable, with six weights interpolated between two masters — Regular and Black — and includes the basic Latin character set.
NOTE: Aperiodica continued, and continues, to be developed beyond the scope of the curricular unit’s project.
