Architecture without Architects
An introduction to non-pedigreed architecture
Rita Melo
Architecture without Architects – An Introduction to Non-Pedigreed Architecture was a book published by Bernard Rudofsky in 1964, in which he used the term vernacular architecture for the first time: “For want of a generic label we shall call it vernacular, anonymous, spontaneous, indigenous, rural, as the case may be.”

This project is therefore a redesign exercise on the original book, promoting a sensory, expressive approach that values the materiality and textures inherent in the theme of the book itself.
