Peaceful solitude – Illustrative depictions of the introverted mind
Mafalda Ribeiro

Peaceful Solitude: Illustrative Depictions of the Introverted Mind explores Drawing and Illustration as instruments of visual translation within Art and Graphic Design. Through two-dimensional simplicity, these techniques make abstract and subjective concepts tangible, such as emotions and thoughts and, in particular, the subconscious realm filtered through introversion. Inspired by Surrealism — Automatism, Digital Collage and Dreamlike Imagery — the project investigates Illustration as a bridge between inner perception and visual representation, using an exploratory methodology with case studies, experimentation and documentation. It analyzes how variations of the visual elements in a composition can produce different reactions in the viewer. The result is an Illustrated Album that combines visual and textual fragments to narrate and immortalize the subtle feeling of peace that comes from the human subconscious.
