Reinventar a impressão analógica
Exploração de técnicas tradicionais de impressão num contexto académico acessível
Sara Tavares
This project uses letterpress printing with movable type as a way of exploring and adapting the technological means needed to carry out the technique, turning them into practical and accessible instruments in an academic context while ensuring print quality.

With this idea as the project’s main goal, and after research into printing techniques — more specifically movable-type letterpress — the relevance of the project is shown by placing it within contemporary design. To meet this goal, a DIY-style printing tool — 59PRESS — was developed, inspired by the provisional press model created by Steve Garst.
As proof that it works, and as the project’s own validation, the result is a type specimen of the Semplicità typeface in an open-file format, for later continuation.
