Canto à Minha Terra — Canidelo
Inês V. Teixeira
This project aims to evoke and preserve the collective memory of the parish of Canidelo, Vila Nova de Gaia, through an editorial object. Its main reference is João da Mestra, a writer, poet and resident of Canidelo, lending the book a dimension that is at once personal and documentary.

The book’s visual narrative is structured around a continuous line of text, placed at the center of the spread and present throughout — leading the reader on a journey. Along this path, poems and images gradually emerge. Some spreads use Japanese binding to introduce my own contemporary photographs, creating a contrast and dialogue between present and past. Graphic elements run to the outer edge of the pages, making the path visible and creating moments of greater visual density in which reading becomes fragmented.
From a simple idea — a continuous line crossing a territory and a memory — the aim was to build a graphic object that honors Canidelo, preserves João da Mestra’s words and gives visual form to a collective remembrance.
