Since the dawn of civilization, sharing a meal has always been more than a mere necessity — it is a social act that brings people together, whether family, friends or strangers. All memories have a social and a personal side, and food is intrinsically linked to both. A group meal is an individual, shared and cultural memory, perpetuating the practices of a collective identity. Illustration emerges as a key tool for reflecting on the importance of these simple but meaningful moments that shape our culture and identity, as well as helping to preserve and perpetuate them. In this research, interviews, field observation, the consultation of photographic archives and a literature review were used to understand the relationship between food, memory and family identity. The illustrated book invites us to look at everyday life from a new perspective, immortalizing the love present in every step of a recipe and the nostalgia in every flavor, and recovering forgotten dishes and moments.
