Capsule Magazine — Letícia Marques Santos e Ricardo Gomes

Capsule Magazine
Letícia Marques Santos and Ricardo Gomes

Capsule Magazine is a magazine with futurism as its central theme. Across its issues it addresses different topics in order to investigate future scenarios already emerging in the present.

The first issue, “Built Environment”, focuses on cities and built environments. Using futures-research methods, the magazine questions the transformations under way today and imagines how they might develop in the future.

The publication is organized in three main sections. “Unsettled Future” presents cases and trends that represent futures already present but which may still have significant impact once amplified or scaled. “Discarded Future” gathers ideas and representations of futures imagined in the past, exploring how different societies pictured what the future would be. Finally, “Present Progressive” presents the thinking of authors and researchers on transformations already happening, from a critical and political perspective.

The magazine thus links past, present and future, using different perspectives to reflect on the transformation of built environments and the futures that may emerge from them.
