Menocomeço: Discovering and Re-signifying Menopause is a visual, introspective manual in twelve chapters that proposes a feminist reading of menopause, understanding it not as an ending but as a singular transition, unique to each woman. The visual concept associates femininity with the image of the flower — fragile and delicate, yet free and untamable — rendered in loose, fluid watercolors that follow the rhythm of this stage of life.

The book has two parts: a “manual” section, with infographic representations to help face this new stage, and a section of introspective and symbolic texts, excerpts from Reinterpreting Menopause: Cultural and Philosophical Issues (Komesaroff, Rothfield & Daly, 1997). The structure follows a logic of feeling, understanding and re-signifying — not seeking to change the symbols associated with menopause, but to give them new meaning.
