Chapéus e a Indústria da Chapelaria
Rafael Pinho
A final editorial project for the Project course — a book about the hat and the hat-making industry that, through objects, images and documents, offers a historical retrospective and a critical, visual reading of the legacy of a strong local tradition.

The publication follows the evolution of the hat as a functional, symbolic and cultural object, covering its manufacturing processes, raw materials and the shift from craft to industrial production. The research focuses on the hat-making industry in Portugal, especially in São João da Madeira and the Empresa Industrial de Chapelaria, known as the Fábrica Nova.
