Modular typography: Development of a board game for typography education
Laura Mineiro
This project consists of a modular typographic game designed to promote creative typographic space as a vehicle for abstract expression and composition. An additional goal is to spark interest in typography as a discipline. Modulyph is an open-system board game, made up of a set of four basic geometric shapes designed to build glyphs in a 2×2 modular structure, in a regular-weight typographic model. This game seeks new ways of interpreting Latin letter structures and generating creative, combinatory visual solutions.
The variety of shapes in this type of design suggests diverse applications across multiple contexts, not only for typographic compositions but also for graphic compositions, illustrations, symbols, signs, and patterns in various areas of communication, including graphic design, editorial design, branding, signage, and more.
