Across the Universe

Over several meetings, the editorial team developed a synergy with the theme. With the deadline in mind, we divided the work into chapters, creating a mind map with visual references from different fields, including materials, photographs, color palettes, sculptures and installations.

We decided to intrigue the reader and draw them in through curiosity, introducing motion-blur photographs scattered throughout the book. Formally, we chose elements such as empty space, the symbolic black of emptiness and silence, the metallic finish that evokes outer space, and NASA blue, since all the texts come from its database.
After defining an initial layout, we realized the need to include a special section with 18 questions, the “Big Questions”, to deepen the reader’s knowledge of the universe. These questions are strategically hidden at the beginning of the book, so that readers can discover them and single them out.
The indexes were set out on a fold-out, including an index of images, given their importance in the book.
Titled “Across the Universe”, the book explores space and its empty, black and unknown side. It includes extras such as a silver cover and a blue triptych index alluding to NASA. The main goal is to intrigue readers and keep them curious, reflecting the attention to detail that runs through the whole project.
