A Imagem e Não-Imagem da Censura Queer
Arquivo, Identidade, Linguagem e Resistência no Design Gráfico Queer
Luís Lopes

From feelings of devaluation and marginalization come responses and reactions that make up what we might call queer resistance. It emerges, among other forms, through the re-signification and reclaiming of languages and meanings, many of which are expressed through images, opening up nuance: what images can be and what they can become.

The project “The Image and Non-Image of Queer Censorship” builds a visual narrative around manifestations of censorship and iconoclasm that inform us about the perception and acceptance of queer identities in society. It also follows a research-through-editorial-design approach, reflecting how this censorship bears on what could be a queerer perspective on graphic design, while valuing the image as a tool for narrating and rebuilding identity.
