The book &#8220;<em>Figurado<\/em> in the Figurative Sense&#8221; is a collection of some of the traditional Portuguese <em>Figurado<\/em> artists who laid the foundation for this art form. It seeks to understand itself, sculptural and in three dimensions as if it were a piece starting from a block of clay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The figures were engraved in bas-relief, created from a photopolymer matrix. As an object intended to be viewed from multiple perspectives, in full round, the title was printed on the book\u2019s edges so it could be read from different directions, challenging the pre-defined positioning of a title inscribed on the spine. A cursive font was included to evoke the handcrafted nature of the pieces, applied in subtitles, names, and mostly in direct quotes from the testimonies of the ceramists mentioned in this collection. With the average size of <em>Figurado<\/em> pieces, the book\u2019s dimensions allow for many of the figures to be represented at a life-size scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ana-Leite-Trabalho-1-Info<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A hist\u00f3ria do figurado de cer\u00e2mica apanha a boleia da Terra no seu cont\u00ednuo movimento. Na roda e nas m\u00e3os de oleiro gira essa terra, e no transe desse giro, enquanto as m\u00e3os e o barro se v\u00e3o conhecendo, vemos o espelho daquilo que fomos e somos, convergido no tempo presente. Esta \u00e9 a hist\u00f3ria do figurado portugu\u00eas, das figuras tradicionais de barro, que contam cren\u00e7as e mitos populares de uma mem\u00f3ria coletiva e imagin\u00e1rio ancestral. O livro \u201cFigurado no sentido figurado\u201d \u00e9 uma colet\u00e2nea de alguns dos artistas do figurado tradicional portugu\u00eas que alicer\u00e7aram esta arte. Procura-se entender, ele mesmo, escultoricamente e nas 3 dimens\u00f5es como se fosse uma pe\u00e7a que parte de um bloco de barro. As figuras foram gravadas em alto relevo, feito a partir de uma matriz de fotopol\u00edmero. Num objeto que se quer ler nas v\u00e1rias perspetivas, em vulto redondo, o t\u00edtulo foi impresso no corte do livro de forma a que possa ser lido em diferentes dire\u00e7\u00f5es, ao mesmo tempo que desorienta a posi\u00e7\u00e3o pr\u00e9-definida de um t\u00edtulo inscrito na lombada. Foi inclu\u00eddo um tipo cursivo que evoca a manualidade das pe\u00e7as, aplicado em subt\u00edtulos, nomes e maioritariamente em cita\u00e7\u00f5es de discurso direto de testemunhos dos ceramistas mencionados nesta colet\u00e2nea.
